New Athletic Facility At The Montverde Academy

Construction Company Lands $6 Million Contract

The $6 million construction contract recently given to Schmid Construction is set to start in February. The contract entails the building of a 44,000 square foot athletic facility at the Montverde Academy, South Lake County.  Although the athletics buildings will play a major role, construction will begin with the state of the art baseball fields. The athletics building will include a basketball court, seating for around 1,500 spectators, two volleyball courts and a 4,400 square foot fitness center and locker rooms.

Montverde Academy also recently completed an extension of their Sandra O. Stephens center for Media and Performing Arts with Schmid Construction doing the bulk of the work.  The extension of the center included rehearsal and practice rooms, listening and computer labs, a full band rehearsal studio, and a music library, all of which totaled 13,000 square feet. The School, which opened its doors a century ago, is the proud educator of around 900 students. These students include more than 300 students who board at the school and come from all across America and 42 foreign countries. The overall campus size of 125 acres has boarding for grades 7 through 12, and a day school for pre-kindergarten through to grade 12.

The project, though mainly aimed at improving the schools facilities, will also help to get the community involved in the school.  Montverde Academy is looking forward to a busy year ahead, as the project is set to increase the interest in the school in terms of public exposure and student application numbers.  The sporting programs that will be made available at the academy once this project is complete will be a great boost for everyone at the school.  Although there is currently no word on how long the project will take to complete, the school is hoping that the facilities will be up and running in as little time as possible.  It is nice to see that sports are taking an important role in schools again, which is evident from the number of these types of projects now popping up.

Community and School Celebrate New Fitness Center

Avon Valley Sports College in Durrington is celebrating the arrival of a new state of the art fitness and dance facility that is set to change both school and local life for all involved. The entire facility has been supplied to the school free of charge by Competition Line under agreement of a revenue sharing scheme; this includes both the gym and dance studio facilities. The facility comes just as the local area has decided on an ?active learning? ethos, and with a price tag of around four hundred thousand pounds, it should be money well spent when all is said and done.

The project has been built on the grounds of the college, and looks set to easily cater for everyone within the 10 mile radius it was originally intended for. In total, this adds up to around twenty thousand people who will be using the facilities regularly. Although everyone is excited, they will have to hold tight until doors open in the first few days of 2012. With a range of 33 different machines being supplied by Technogym, the facility is set to be second to none in the local area.

A dance studio is also being built as part of the gym, though this one is housed in a separate structure. The center is set to be a winner with the local community, as the additional facilities on offer to them include a refreshment caf? as well as an indoor sports area for netball and indoor football games.

It was a simple choice for the college to take on the project. The facility is using space that was previously left open and without use by the college. The school must simply open the facility to the public after school hours, and with equipment that is usable by both disabled and able bodied people, it is sure to be a hit. To add to the reward of the venture, there have been no minimum income requirements put in place, meaning the college is not forced to overwork the facilities. The college could also stand to increase a budget that has been hit hard by the recent country wide public sector cuts.

The public is also set to make huge savings on their gym memberships; the facility will be cheaper to join when compared to facilities in the local area, and as an added incentive to join sooner rather than later, all those who join before the end of the year will pay no sign up fees.

The University of Texas Arlington unveils massive project for Athletics programs

The University of Texas Arlington is changing its outlook with the addition of several new buildings, the center of which is the new College Park Center. If you are looking for the center of college life in Arlington, follow the giant finger like roof which will point you in the right direction.

The Center boasts an entrance hall with large windows to allow visitors to be bathed in light as the make their way to the games. With a vast selection of seating available the center is built to accommodate as many people as possible, so there will be no disappointed fans on game night.

Although most stadiums suffer from view problems when spectators sit further to the back, the center has been designed to make all feel like they are in the middle of it all. Center stage is taken up by the $1.2 million Daktronics Video Board, allowing even those fans sat at the very back to feel like they are right at center court.

Although building is still underway on other parts of the site, the additional 20 acre retail/living area is looking like it will be a great attraction for fans. Once the project has been finished, fans will be able to enjoy the surrounding area before and after the games. There are high hopes for the whole development, as students and teachers hope to bring the university back to center stage in terms of both quality of education and of course a hard hitting basketball program. There are even those who are hoping the football program that was cut in 1985 will make a much anticipated return.

Once completed, the project is set to be a revitalizing factor for the whole of the down town area, something which the locals are more than happy about. In terms of having made an impact, the center is well received by locals and fans of sports alike; everyone is excited to see the results!
